Thoughts on economics and liberty

Sri Sri Ravishankar advocates privatisation of schools and colleges. Good idea. Let him explain clearly to the people.

Below is an extract from Sri Sri's talk:

This is something I agree with – not because of the ridiculous reason Sri Sri gives (re: government school educated children becoming Naxalites) but because this is the ONLY way to ensure HIGH QUALITY education even for the poorest of the poor, when coupled with a high value education voucher for the poorest of the poor.

Details in BFN/ SKC agenda.

Now it is important for Sri Sri to understand how this can be implemented, and to explain it to the people.

Same thing was also noted by Justice Chandrashekhar Shankarrao Dharmadhikari who is very much for school privatisation. (He is the one who was on Aamir Khan’s TV program on abolishing caste system). Justiceji is khadidhari from birth and seniormost among living Gandhians. He has written like this, “In today’s educational system, there is nothing Swadeshi.
Everything is foreign. Akbar Allahabadi, a noted Urdu poet described
present day education in his Urdu couplet thus:
Tifla Men Boo Aye Kya Baap Ke Etabar Ki
Doodh To Dibbe Ka Hai, Talim Hai Sarkar Ki
That means the culture of parents will not reflect in their children because of the powder milk and government”.

    > That means the culture of parents will not reflect in their children…

Considering that most Indian parents’ “culture” comprises casteism, communalism, superstition, ignorance (jahiliyat) and blind devotion, I’m not sure if it is in fact better that it doesn’t reflect in their children. What is this Swadeshi education that is different from “foreign” influence?
