Historical data on Sweden’s death rates shows that COVID IS BARELY WORSE THAN THE FLU
There are a LOT of Sweden charts that are floating around on Twitter. This is a central place for the ones I find/make.
This, dear @WHO, is known as herd immunity – nature's vaccine.
And note that Sweden's excess annual deaths are barely in the range of a bad flu, controlling for the very low deaths in 2019 due to a mild flu season.
And only half the covid deaths are actually covid deaths. https://t.co/ZCzFuo4OO2

Mortality rates in Sweden in 2019 were abnormally low with a drop of 5% for all the oldest age groups. Taking a look at the overall mortality rate of 2019-20 shows its one of the lowest of the decade.https://t.co/OHDt0PkUPf

Sweden has 5k excess deaths so far in 2020, government agency Statistics Sweden confirmed:https://t.co/iatyEmnbiX
Indeed, the proper methodology is to identify the OVERALL TREND to find the baseline.
Do NOT average previous years, as many invalid analyses do… pic.twitter.com/fw9V0CIcno

Here's the latest data on Sweden deaths till end-October 2020. A simple extrapolation suggests Sweden's total deaths this year could end up at 90k, not even slightly abnormal for the past 10 years.

And average deaths now trending lower than average so by year's end it will be an average year for deaths. Surely Sutton knows this as he knows the median age of death in Oz with/from CoVid is 84 / 85. pic.twitter.com/Tb6BTMcExX

The pandemic peaked (ended) in mid-April in Sweden, so he's not off by a lot, although he should have used later data.
But note that the peak in monthly deaths in 2020 is the 8th lowest in the past 20 years in Sweden.

Meanwhile in Sweden: "Sweden overall deaths/million for each Jul-Jun period. Even with Covid-19, Sweden's absolute mortality rates are at all-time historical lows." pic.twitter.com/xFacdpPSss

Wow so here is Sweden's cumulative YTD deaths Vs the previous 5 years. Can anyone see anything remotely troubling in this? Why would any country be idiotic enough to lock down? pic.twitter.com/17TftBHh2m

With the new models for herd immunity (and recent studies on cross-reactive immunity) it's clear the lockdown strategy kills more elderly.
The Swedish model can be improved, with more protection for elderly. But still, their total mortality for 2020 isn't even as bad as 2015: pic.twitter.com/usR2kgdBNf

Swedish 3,800 excess deaths below reported COVID deaths. (people cannot die twice). Sweden succeeds without lockdown: so-called experts will be FOREVER judged by what they predicted there in since April. Twitter rememberers. Swedish data beautiful too. https://t.co/KEdFlLRXrChttps://t.co/WTFrHCfPXLpic.twitter.com/qAMvG26Xm3
