THREE POLICE OFFICERS and ONE GANGSTER have by now testified/hinted clearly to Modi’s direction of Haren Pandya’s murder
It is time to take a stocktake of the Pandya issue on which I’ve put out the following posts in the past:
22nd October 2013: Vanzara’s letter CLEARLY implicates Modi as the HEAD CRIMINAL OF GUJARAT
24th January 2013: How has N.Modi treated Jagruti Pandya, the wife of his murdered Minister?
There have been further developments in November 2018 which have been summarised by Rana Ayyub below: It’s Time to Blow the Lid off Haren Pandya’s Murder [Given the repeated disappearance of such evidence from the internet, I’ve taken a screenshot and also posted a copy of this here]
THE MOST PLAUSIBLE STORY SO FAR
Pandya was Modi’s most significant political competitor.
Not long after taking over as chief minister of Gujarat on 7 October 2001, Modi stripped Pandya of the home portfolio and made him junior minister of revenue.
February 2002: The infamous riots took place. Pandya was present at all key meetings and knew exactly what had happened. He started testifying against Modi.
In November 2007, Outlook reported that Pandya had revealed to the magazine in May 2002 that on the night of 27 February 2002 Narendra Modi had held a meeting in his residence in which he instructed the attending bureaucrats and police officers to allow “people to vent their frustration and not come in the way of the Hindu backlash.” Pandya had disclosed this information on condition of confidentiality. On 19 August 2002, Pandya again spoke to the magazine, according to Outlook, and reiterated what he had said earlier with the additional comment that if his identity as the source of this information were to be revealed then he would be killed. The second conversation with Pandya was recorded by the magazine.
The tribunal received direct information through a testimony from a highly placed source of a meeting (on February 27, 2002) where the CM, two or three senior cabinet colleagues, the Ahmedabad police commissioner and an IG police were present. The meeting had a singular purpose: the senior-most police officials were told that they should expect a “Hindu reaction” after Godhra. They were also told they should not do anything to contain this reaction.
Hosbet Suresh, who was a member of the tribunal, has testified before the tribunal and that a recording of Pandya’s testimony before the tribunal exists.
AUGUST 2002: MODI KICKED OUT PANDYA FROM THE CABINET
By August 2002, Modi had elbowed Pandya out of the cabinet entirely, and in October, Pandya was denied a ticket in the upcoming elections.
MARCH 2003: MODI ALMOST CERTAINLY GOT PANDYA KILLED THROUGH POLICE OFFICER VANZARA WHO HIRED SOHRABUDDIN SHAIKH
Pandya was murdered on the morning of March 26, 2003 by Sohrabuddin, who was given the contract by Vanzara.
PROOF – FOUR STRONG WITNESSES
WITNESS 1 WAS KILLED: Sohrabuddin was killed by Modi through a fake encounter
This is very widely know, so I won’t go into details.
WITNESS 2 WAS SHOT BUT ESCAPED: AZAM KHAN, GANGSTER WHO KNEW SOHRABUDDIN – he testified both in 2010 and in 2018
2018: Azam Khan is an Udaipur-based gangster and had been brought before the Mumbai court earlier this month [November 2018] under heavy security from Udaipur Central Jail. Khan, while deposing in the special CBI court in Mumbai which is hearing the alleged fake encounter case of gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh had said, “During discussion with Sohrabuddin, he told me that he, along with Naeem Khan and Shahid Rampuri, got the contract to kill Home Minister Haren Pandya of Gujarat and they killed him. I felt sad and I told Sohrabuddin that they have killed a good person. Sohrabuddin told me that the contract was given to him by Vanzara.” [Source – screenshot, for permanent record!]
But note that this was NOT the first time that Azam Khan had said this.
2010: Azam Khan said that in 2010 he had given this information to CBI officials investigating the case but they refused to include this particular statement in his testimony. … two days after Jagruti Pandya’s plea to look into Azam Khan’s statement in the Haren Pandya case, he was shot at in Udaipur. He survived so he was threatened and politically pressurized.” [Source]
Rana Ayyub in the same report:
In July 2010, my sources in the CBI investigating the fake encounters told me that a Haren Pandya link had emerged in the investigation. They confirmed that a witness, Azam Khan, had stated that Vanzara and Abhay Chudasama were involved in the Haren Pandya murder but the CBI did not include this in his testimony because it was not a part of their mandate to investigate Pandya’s murder. One month later, Azam Khan was shot at in Udaipur.
WITNESS 3: DG VANZARA
The funny thing is that murder investigation was DIRECTLY SUPERVISED BY VANZARA! – see details in various news reports. Naturally, till today, there has been no official solution to this case.
BUT Vanzara HIMSELF clearly hinted at a strong political conspiracy: DG Vanzara sings about Haren Pandya murder, says it was political conspiracy.
During his interrogation by a CBI team, led by DIG Sandeep Tamagde, Vanzara hinted at a political conspiracy behind Pandya’s killing, sources said. Vanzara reportedly spoke about the role of Sohrabuddin in Pandya’s murder in March 2003, sources said. [Source: Screenshot]
WITNESS 4: THE “FIRST INVESTIGATING OFFICER Y.A. Shaikh
Details of this are found in Rana Ayyub’s book – but key extracts are found here. Here’s what Shaikh said during the sting:
You know this Haren Pandya case is like a volcano. Once the truth is out, Modi will go home. He will be jailed, not go home. He will be in prison.
WITNESS 5: Police officer DAYA NAYAK
Back in Mumbai, while I was on another terror investigation in 2008, Daya Nayak, a famed ‘encounter specialist’ from Mumbai had told me that Haren Pandya’s killing was one of the biggest political murders in the history of India (a statement mentioned in Gujarat Files). [Source]
ALL THE “EVIDENCE” OF THE MURDER WAS EITHER DESTROYED OR COMPLETELY COOKED UP
Not a single piece of evidence stacks up. There are plenty of news reports on this, I won’t go into detail. Just search a bit and you’ll find out. This is a huge issue. Rana Ayyub has covered this very well, but there’s a LOT of public information on this matter.
HAREN PANDYA’S FATHER IS CONVINCED THAT THIS IS A POLITICAL MURDER
My son’s death was a planned, political murder…it must be reinvestigated.” —Vithal Pandya, father of the late Haren Pandya, former Gujarat revenue minister, to Outlook on November 7, 2007 [Source]
