Thoughts on economics and liberty

List of India’s many questionable “classical liberals”

I’m making note of the names of Indians whom I’ve come across over the past many years who pretended to support liberty but have actually been ACTIVELY supporting illiberal political parties or leaders, mostly BJP.

It looks like many “liberals” of India are actually Hindutva fanatics inside. Very unfortunate situation for India to be in, when there are so few genuine supporters of the rule of law and liberty.

DIRECT SUPPORTERS

Madhu Kishwar (direct support for criminal, corrupt Modi)

Jaya Prakash Narayana of Lok Satta (direct support for Modi)

Shashi Shekhar Vempati (now at Niti Central)

Anuj Gupta (now active organiser of BJP publicity)

Atanu Dey (active support for Modi)

Seetha Parthasarathy (active support for Modi)

Sadanand Dhume (a Modi bootlicker)

INDIRECT SUPPORTERS

Bibek Debroy (accepted appointment in Modi’s government)

Gurcharan Das (accepted appointment in Modi’s government)

THE OTHER USELESS GROUP: LIBERTARIANS

There is another group that has turned “libertarian” – essentially anarchist. These are entirely useless to India, as well. These are mainly young people with zero understanding of governance or the principles of (or need for) the nation state. I won’t name them since the have NO influence whatsoever on anyone. But they could have – if they were more sensible – made a difference by sticking to a classical liberal (well-evidenced) position.

Instead of Swarna Bharat Party why don’t you revive the Liberal Party of India?Being an economist I oscillate between social liberalism and classical liberalism, although I am all for minimal government intervention. Why I oscillate between CL and SL will require a lot of space to explain. However I am uncompromising about secularism.

SBP is India’s only liberal party. Period.

We are classical liberal and detest “social liberalism” which is a form of socialism.
