The minds of 99.99 per cent of the Indians are completely closed. Not even a sliver of light is allowed to come in.
EXTRACTS FROM MY EMAIL TO SOMEONE FROM GURGAON WHO WAS RECENTLY INTRODUCED TO ME
It appears that one of the areas of your focus is the environment.
Everything in India is affected by its socialist model. Everything, including the environment. On the other hand, in countries like Australia where standard (i.e. regulated free market) incentives operate, the environment (including wild life) is in sterling condition.
There are very few (almost none) in India who understand even the basics of economics or governance. Vast mythologies have been floating around for seventy years, massive misrepresentations and distortions of even the most obvious facts.
I have reached out to a lot of people in India over the past 20 years or so. Almost all of them have a closed mind, into which no light can penetrate from any side, not even a micro-millimetre of opening for light to enter. A good example was my interaction with Arvind Kejriwal and Yogendra Yadav (about which I’ve also written on my blog extensively).
What I say is standard policy across the world but in India it shocks people even to mention it, and they immediately switch off. I am paid to provide standard policy advice in Australia (I work as an economist in the government), but in India no one would even remotely want to hear what I have to suggest (and I was in the IAS and knew everyone from top to bottom, so yes, I mean what I say).
The country bleeds from self-created wounds. The biggest wound of all was caused by shutting out standard economic thinking and adopting Marx or his derivatives – the Fabians.
Before I call you, could you please go through the manifesto – particularly the sections that interest you – and let me know whether you are interested in inquiring about these ideas. I am happy to spend hours of my time over the phone (initially) to address any questions/ doubts you may have.
